Background
In response to the growing demand for expert advice helplines such as NHS Direct, vetfone was created to fulfil the demand from pet owners in the UK.
After carrying out our own research, what we discovered was that:- It had to be manned by qualified vet nurses or vets
- It had to be open 24 hours a day and 7 days per week
- It had to be of the highest quality and ethics
Why pet owners call vetfone?
Urgent advice and first aid:- Urgent or first aid advice. Diarrhoea, wounds, vomiting
General advice:- We answer questions on food, vaccinations, behaviour, young animals, getting on with other pets & children.
- Some people have been at their wits end because they can no longer afford the upkeep & medicines or their insurance has run out. Before they seek re-homing or consider something more drastic, we can hopefully suggest some alternatives.
- Costs of ownership and how to keep them down.
Too busy/too late?- If you've run out of time or it's "out of hours" then rather than worry, do nothing and have your pet suffer, call vetfone.
Who will answer the call?
Only RCVS-qualified veterinary nurses answer the calls. They are all experienced, trained and supported by our vets.
